  • Sprinter Fun Run Information

Sprinter is a timed event. A moving lure will be offered to all dogs as incentive to run the distance. An electric, continuous-loop lure machine will be used. However, other means may also be used. As long as there is no physical assistance, these may include but are not limited to recall or retrieving an object thrown at the finish line by the catcher.

The track length will be 100 meters.

The club will provide enough room for a safe runout area. The catch basin will be surrounded by a soft, plastic fence at the end of the distance.

It is recommended that an owner or someone familiar with the dog stand at the finish in order to catch the dog once the run has been completed.

Dogs are expected to be excited in the presence of the lure; however handlers must be able to control their dogs for everyone’s safety.

The dog finishing their run must be caught, leashed, and exit the field before the subsequent dog may be permitted to enter the field.

You can bring a friend to release your dog. If you can’t bring one, one of our club members will be available to release your dog.

The track will be entirely fenced with temporary fencing.

Please bring two leashes – one for releasing and the other for the end when you are leaving the catch area.

    • Muzzles, fitted, flat buckle collars (no tags) and catch collars are permitted. The dog may run ‘naked’ (without a collar).
    • No harnesses, flexi-leads, electronic or prong/pinch collars allowed.
    • The collar should be snug to minimize the chances of catching on something during the run.
    • Lame dogs will be excused and their entry refunded.
    • Please clean up after yourselves and your dogs.
    • Waiver forms must accompany registration.  If you emailed it to me, that is great! Otherwise please bring your signed waiver with you.

Please email Judy Byers if you have any questions. jbbyers@yourlink.ca
